Scoping

This is how Treehouse delivers consistent quality at national scale. The scoping engine is the reason the customer experience is reliable whether the install happens in Daly City or Detroit.

The Engine Behind the Scope

  • Proprietary data layer powers every scope. 10,000+ AHJ records (permit fees, code book years, inspection requirements, local deviations from NEC), 1,500 panel model records, and 90,000+ building footprints. AHJ-specific rules are applied automatically. For the golden project: Daly City has a unique EV load calculation multiplier that Edison catches and applies without manual intervention.
  • Panel IQ analyzes customer photos to build a digital twin of the electrical panel. Extracts panel make and model, identifies circuits, generates a load calculation, and flags anomalies (e.g., ambiguous breaker labels that need manual review). Trained on thousands of panel photos across all 50 states.
  • Edison generates the full project scope from Panel IQ's output: circuit-level detail (length, amperage, wire gauge), suggested products, aerial conduit run diagram, bill of materials, and permit-ready plan set. Full audit trail of every change. Swap a charger model (e.g., Grizzl-E to Tesla Wall Connector) and the entire scope updates automatically — circuit sizing, wiring specs, pricing, and plan set all reflect the change.
  • One data model produces every downstream document: customer proposal, installer SOW, permit plan set, and load calculation. What the customer is sold matches exactly what the installer builds. This is what keeps change orders in single digits.
  • Scoping is executed by the Treehouse team (not licensed electricians) because domain expertise is codified directly in the software. This is how Treehouse scales nationally without proportional headcount growth.
